Why did we choose red (620nm) and blue (460nm)?

During PHOTOSYNTHESIS, plants absorb lights with wavelengths ranging from 380nm to 760nm. Research found that 610-720 nm (red light) and 400-510 nm (blue light) are plants’ peak absorption areas. In this way, providing sufficient lights that lie between these wavelengths will significantly promote plant growth. 

(1) Red LEDs (wavelength = 620nm)

Red light is essential for the early stages of plant growth. It activates phytochromes, which are photoreceptors in plants that promote seed germination, root growth, bulb development, and various developmental processes. Exposing plants to red light also leads to better flowering results. 

(2) Blue LEDs (wavelength = 460nm)

Blue light is crucial for growing stems and leaves. It facilitates chlorophyll synthesis and photosynthesis. By doing so, blue light accelerates seedlings, increases germination percentages, and promotes plant growth. 

Our Red+Blue LED grow lights are suitable for growing plants at home, offices, and/or in greenhouses. They perform well for all seasons and are especially useful in winter.
